Just over a week ago I had an email from Petrolprices.com reminding me that Grace’s MOT was due before the 1st of next month. Just what I need, now that I’m beginning to feel the effects of being on Statutory Sick Pay.
The following morning I got into Grace to head off for my next Radiotherapy session, and a warning flashed up on the dashboard “SERVICE OVERDUE“. Gods! Everyone’s on my back for money..!
And then a letter arrived from HMRC. Even the bloody taxman’s at it, I thought as I opened the envelope. It was indeed about tax. From three years ago. I’d overpaid, so they enclosed a cheque (yes the taxman still uses cheques) for the overpayment of just shy of £300.
Handy. Especially as I’d just booked Grace in for a full service and MOT to the tune of £450.
Grace passed her MOT with flying colours, just as I knew she would, but there’s always that niggling doubt. What if they find something I haven’t noticed? What if it’s going to be expensive to fix? What if they can’t get the parts anymore? After all she’s 12 years old now…

And now the nutritional supplements keep flooding in. Why I have been discouraged from the Fortisips that I like in favour of Fresubin (by the same manufacturer) is beyond me, especially as I am not particularly keen on the latter. And as for the flavours they’ve sent me? I’ve made it quite clear to my Dietitian that I do NOT like chocolate drinks, I do NOT like coffee flavoured drinks (I’d rather have real coffee, thanks) and while I do enjoy fruit flavoured milkshake type drinks, citrus fruits are a definite no-no.
They sent me this:

144 bottles of Fresubin.
36 Chocolate,
36 Cappucino,
36 Lemon,
36 Vanilla.
At least when the gave me Fortisip, they gave me a flavour I quite like. Unfortunately I’ve gone through all 56 bottles.
Well, they said, if you’re not keen on the flavour, you can always use your feeding tube…
I’d rather not use my feeding tube until I absolutely have to, if and when I can no longer swallow properly.
Nevermind, they said. You can alter your next order to suit you better.
Yes I can change the order.
I can change the amounts of each one.
What I can’t change is the flavours…
Still. Only another four weeks and I’ll have completed my treatment. (Hopefully)
